Week 5

Week 5 - Watch a series of sequencing video showing a certain action. Draw 5 frames summarizing the sequence. Think of a video game you want to make and describe the 15 second commercial you would create to advertise your game. My target audience is males between the ages of 18 and 40. The focal point of the commercial is man’s struggle between good and evil along with his ability to choose. The WOW factor will come from the sheer size of the conflict as it builds the graphic nature of the conflict and the game play. The commercial will air on MTv, Scifi, the Movie channel and late night on the cartoon network at the very least.
My story is about the epic battle between good and evil; the battle of Armageddon. The main Characters in my story are Michael De’ Archangel, Luciferous Baphomet and Damian Jones. There is very little dialog between the characters as most of the commercial will be narrated. Where there is dialog, it will be between Michael and Luciferous as they struggle to win the will of Damian who is present. They are trying to get him to join their cause; he is struggling with an internal voice that tells him not to choose.
There is conflict worldwide however the game focuses the epic battle in the middle eastern Holy Land region of Israel. Most battles will take place outdoors with the sun and moon being the primary light sources. During the day the sun will provide much of the ambient light sources while at night it will be street lights and other man made tools such as candles and flash lights.
White Orange and Gold will dominate and angelic scenes and characters, Black, Red and Yellow will dominate demonic powers. Neutral scenes or scenes without battles will be dominated by organic earth tones.
Perspective will be used to show enormous scale during major battles scenes as Michael and Luciferous both have the ability to grown in size. There will be scenes when they are as big as mountains.
I’m not sure if this discussion is supposed be about the commercial spot of the game we are doing the commercial spot on. So I will sum it up by saying that in 15 seconds, I plan to illustrate the awesome power on both sides of the conflict, unimagined game play both free and mission based.

Frame 1 – 00:00:00:01 – 00:00:01:01

No ambient sound. Bright blue sky with some cumulous clouds. Blinding burst of light.

Narration begins in deep tone authoritative voice..

Narration: In the epic battle…

Frame 2 – 00:00:01:01 – 00:00:02:01

No ambient sounds. Bright light in sky diminishes to a point in the sky where Angels begin to appear and descend to earth. All angles are cloaked in white robes with gold trim. They are armed with flaming swords and have huge white feathered wings. They are all very fair skinned with long flowing golden blond hair. Michael De’ Archangel takes center frame and descends down upon camera viewpoint. Michael is different from the other angels in that he is slightly larger, carries a more impressive sword (The Sword of the Spirit) and boasts a huge halo around the back of his head. He spreads his wings to slow his descent.

Narration: …between heaven…

Frame 3 – 00:00:02:01 – 00:00:03:01

No Ambient sounds. Michael lands just in front of camera. Camera looking up at him to show immense size as he lands with a thunderous crash and rumble (first background sound effect under narration) as smoke and debris enter screen from bottom of frame. Michael stand in fortitude looking very calm, very powerful and very majestic.

Frame 4 – 00:00:03:01 – 00:00:04:01

Scene cuts to ambient rumble sounds fading into sounds of explosions and people screaming as huge demonic hands burst through the ground in busy city streets. Citizens and cars are getting tossed in to the air as the camera angle zooms out to show explosions all around the city and demons taking to the sky.

Narration: …with mankind’s…

Frame 5 – 00:00:04:01 – 00:00:05:01

Camera zooms out to bird’s eye view of city landscape. Michael De’ Archangel is visible near the horizon with an army of angels behind him. Demons flying towards the angels are visible everywhere as the camera moves up and behind Luciferous Baphomet. All demons have a unique look and physiology depending on which one of the seven deadly sins they emobody. Luciferous is not as sickly and wretched look as the rest. He represents them all and is very formidable being muscular and relentless with fury. All demons are jet black skinned, blood red eye sockets and pupils with bloodshot eyes. Huge black leathery bat like wings and pointed tails. They are naked and have no fashioned weapons. Huge boney claws pierce their finger tipn and toeas, bright white razor sharp teeth line their mouths. Boney horns protrude from their skulls and wing tips. The point on their tails are razor sharp. Although they are very muscular, their big sharp boney skeletal structure is very pronounced.

Narration: …future at stake.

Frame 6 – 00:00:05:01 – 00:00:06:01

Camera pans around Luciferous for a profile shot of his rage filled face as the background fades in to a blurr indicating blinding speed. A growl of rage can be heard building up from Luciferous as he moves across the screen.

Narration: …Which side…

 

Frame 7 – 00:00:06:01 – 00:00:07:01

Scene cuts to overhead rear view over Luciferous with left arm outstretched. Draining soul from Damien Jones while Michael is behind Damien doing the same thing to him. The soul drainage is represented by waves in the air, dark for evil, light for good. Both coming from Damien who is on his knees screaming in agony as the camera zooms in slowly to a facial portrait shot in frame 9. This scene takes place on the edge of a roof top. There is an AK-47 assault rifle on the roof top besides Damien, some spent shell casings are visible.

Narration: …will you…

Frame 8 – 00:00:07:01 – 00:00:08:01

Camera continues to zoom in. Agonizing screams of pain and fury emanate from Damien as the camera zooms closer. Beads of sweat, body trembling, split soul stealing still evident in the dark and light energy flows leaving him. Frame right side of his body shows signs of becoming decrepit and diseased. Frame left side of his body showing signs of life and purity and healing. His face is grossly distorted between anguish and anger as he fights for his will to live.

Narration: …choose? [MUSIC: Pounding bass drum roll begins to fade in..]

Frame 9 – 00:00:08:01 – 00:00:09:01

Same continues zoom scene from last two frames as camera settles in on a close up of Damien’s face. His anguish transforms to anger as his screams of pain transform in to scream of rage just as the scene cuts to game play and the drum roll bursts in to battle music.

[MUSIC: Drum roll amplitude increases as it bursts in to orchestrated battle music…]

Frame 10 – 00:00:09:01 – 00:00:10:01

Scene cuts to actual game play showing real time epic battle mode. A giant angel and giant demons fighting on top of the old city in Israel destroying buildings in their wake. Other battle can be seen taking place in the background. Hints of the user interface are show. Text overlays the top of the screen “EPIC REAL TIME BATTLES”. Angel and Demon fight in typical Battle of the Monsters style..

Frame 11 – 00:00:10:01 – 00:00:11:01

Scene cuts to actual game play showing turn based strategic battle planning. Over head map view of city with graphical representations of angels, demons and legions (on both sides). Selecting and moving pieces as if playing a turn based chess game. Text overlays the top of the screen “STRATEGIC BATTLE PLANNING”.

Frame 12 – 00:00:11:01 – 00:00:12:01

Scene cuts to actual game play showing real time multi first person shooter style game play in the streets of the city. Huge demon player sneaking up on human soldier players. Player names appear next to the heads of each multiplayer in view. Soldier player on left side of screen is firing his assault rifle at something off screen. Soldier on right side of frame is moving in to foreground cautiously. Text overlays the top of the screen “MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER WARS”.

Frame 13 – 00:00:12:01 – 00:00:13:01

Scene cuts to actual gameplay showing the single player mission based game play. Player is running down the streets with an AK-47 in hand. Game play is I Grand Theft Auto 4 style where streets are populated and the epic battles are taking place in the background. Text overlays the top of the screen “SINGLE PLAYER FREEDOM AND STORYLINE GAMEPLAY”

[MUSIC: …Orchestrated battle music ends on rhythm with massive explosion sound]

Frame 14 – 00:00:13:01 – 00:00:14:01

Cuts back to Damien fighting for his soul on the roof top. This time a musters the strength to break free from both Michael and Luciferous as he leaps towards the rooftop edge. Frame shows Damien reaching towards camera as he takes his first running steps, Waves of light and dark are severed from him in a burst of orange light. Camera backs up and follows Damien as he leaps from roof top.

{SOUND: Explosion sound fades as Damien leaps from roof top}

Frame 15 00:00:14:01 – 00:00:15:01

Scene continues from previous frame as Damien leaps from rooftop and begins falling in a head first dive. Michael and Luficerous can be seen peering over the rooftop edge as the explosion sound fades to silence and the final two words of the narration are uttered.

BONUS - I completeed my storyboard draft frames early because I needed to time out my narration. I wanted to know exactly when words were to be spoken, what was being shown and that I could fit it all in to a 15 second commercial - This si the movie I produced complete with temporary sound track.
